Steam Driver’s Eye View: Caledonian Mainline – Volume 1

£14.95

+ £1.50

shipping

Join us for this unique journey along the Caledonian Mainline, with an ex-LMS ‘Princess Coronation’ class locomotive recreating the halcyon days of the 1950s, when Steam reigned supreme.

Departing southbound from Glasgow Central, we take the West Coast Mainline recreating some of the classic express trains such as the Royal Scot, Caledonian and the Mid-Day Scot Expresses from the Steam era as we climb some 20 miles to just before Carstairs where we pause for a water stop.

From here we continue climbing at speed through the Southern Uplands through Abington and Crawford towards Beattock Summit, before descending at speed towards Lockerbie and crossing over the border to the city of Carlisle.

With live sound recorded from the locomotive, we bring the action right to you.

This program also features on screen location titles, including commentary from the locomotives crew.

Locomotive featured: LMS Princess Coronation Class No. 46233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland.

Steam Driver’s Eye View: Duchess over the Devon Banks (Newton Abbot – Plymouth).

£14.95

+ £1.50

An exciting prospect as we once again tackle the South Devon Banks, with one of Sir William Stanier's mighty LMS Princess Coronation Class Locomotives; better known as 'Duchesses'. We retrace our footsteps to the mid-1950s, when two Duchesses were sent to the Western Region to temporarily cover the duties of 'King' Class locomotives.

The first part begins at Newton Abbot, where we get straight into the action and climb up the Westbound climbs of Dainton & Rattery Banks, on the edge of Dartmoor, before dropping into Plymouth.

The second part begins at Plymouth and we tackle the Eastbound climbs of Hemerdon & Dainton Banks, and drawing comparisons with the records set by BR Standard Class 8, No.71 000 'Duke of Gloucester'. А bonus sequence also includes crossing the Royal Albert Bridge, becoming the first ever Duchess to venture into Cornwall, as well as the climb through the Glyn Valley from Bodmin Road.

With live sound recorded from the locomotive, we bring the action right to you. This program also features commentary, location titles & lineside shots. Crew commentary is also featured, giving us an insight how to handle а steam engine on this challenging stretch of line.

Great Steam Locomotives 'Princess Margaret Rose'

£14.95

+ £1.50

Few steam locomotives have a history to match Princess Margaret Rose, the first production Pacific for the L.M.S. Railway. When the locomotive was withdrawn from British Railways’ operating stock in the earlt 1960s, she was purchased by Sir Billy Butlin as a showpiece for his Pwllheli holiday camp and appeared destined to be a chidrens’ plaything! However, a group of enthusiasts bought her and took her to Butterley in Derbyshire, where they lovingly restored her to full operating condition once again.

Today she gives pleasure to thousands, working on British Rail main lines, as in the past. This programme traces her progress from Pwllheli to Butterley and the main lines, with unique footage on her footplate, as well as many action shots of this “Princess of the Rails”.

Contents include:

Anglesea Department – leaving Holyhead station in 1991 on her return to North Wales.

“PMR” at home – views at Pwllheli, at Butterley in green livery and lineside and footplate scenes on her home railway.

The Derby Circle – the first runs on her “home main line”, with the “Richard Levick Special” and “White Rose”

The Red Rose – echoing her livery, a trip to the south, at Nottingham and Stenson.

Cumbrian Mountaineer – working on the famous Settle and Carlisle railway.

Cumbrian Coaster – a trip to the seaside, along the Cumbrian Coast.

The Westmorlander – an epic journey from Carlisle to Crewe in one day, via the Settle and Carlisle. Scenes her preparation at Carlisle and lineside to Blackburn.

The Ynys Mon Express – back to North Wales, at Holywell Junction and Llandudno.
