On 15th December 2010 the boiler is seen being lifted from the frames of 6233 Duchess of Sutherland.
There is still evidence of snow in the foreground which had delayed the lift by a week.

Friday 14th January saw the frames being lifted on the Matteson jacks and the leading bogie, pony truck and driving wheelsets removed.

Tuesday 18th January 2011 saw the boiler loaded onto a low loader (J. C. Balls & Sons) for the journey to the LNWR boiler shops in Crewe.

After being removed from the frames, the tender
tank is in the air waiting for a low loader to reverse
underneath it. The tank is to have a new base and
splashers fabricated and fitted at Hill & Webster

The wheelsets leave the West Shed on a very cold and
wet Saturday morning. They are departing for Tyseley
where they are to be re-profiled.

Many hours have been spent on cleaning the
locomotive frames to prepare them for painting prior
to the wheelsets being refitted on their return from

During a shunt at the West Shed to
position 6233's tender frames between
the Matteson jacks, the opportunity was taken
to photograph the rolling chassis of 6233
after having been re-wheeled, including
leading bogie and pony truck. The cab has
also been temporarily reunited with the frames.

Work is progressing well at Crewe with
6233's boiler in the air once again. This
time it was to turn the boiler over onto
its other side to allo

Friday 1st July saw the frames of 6233 moved
back between the jacks on road 3 in the
workshop at the West Shed. Here we see
them being slowly shunted on road 2, under the
watchful eye of Trust engineer Simon Scott
towards the head shunt.

Monday 26th September - the boiler
underwent a hydraulic test at Crewe.
The pressure gauge reads 330psi
indicating that the boiler has passed this
test and is ready for a steam test in the
very near future.

will be returning to the West Shed on

are to be fitted next before returning

Looking like a Princess Coronation
Class Locomotive again! 46233 is
pictured on the morning of the 31st
October 2011, the cladding has been
completed and her nameplates refitted.
It is going to appear that the overhaul
has slowed down soon as the work that
is to be done is likely hidden inside
the loco. Be assured that the pace of
the overhaul will continue to be
un-relenting!

Since completing the running in period successfully,
46233 has had much attention to the completion
of many small jobs. The painting in to BR Green
is now complete. Here we see the smoke
deflectors being fitted in readyness for the 'Roll-Out'
on Saturday 3rd March 2012 .

The final examination required before 46233
was awarded her mainline accreditation was
a 'loaded test run'. This was carried out by the
running of 'The Night Owl' tour on 29th March 2012.
